Description

A Great Taste winning, luscious and savoury all-purpose seasoning blend. Paying homage to Ancient Roman cookery that celebrated eating of vegetables.

Origin
The name comes from a Latin word meaning to enliven and invigorate, this is a blend inspired by ancient Rome cookery flavours. Many Romans would have eaten a largely vegetarian diet by default with osteological discoveries showing gladiators largely eating vegetables, grains and pulses. The great Roman gourmet, Marcus Gavius Apicius, who compiled what is the only surviving cookbook of the Roman empire, De Re Coquinaria (The Art of Cooking), lists numerous recipes that encompasses the flavours found in this blend.

Taste
A smoky base with a mild peppery heat.
Scent: Lightly spiced with mild citrusy base notes.

How to use
Try a pinch with smashed avocado on toast. Tasty on roasted or stir-fry potatoes by adding before, during or after cooking. And by adding it to a good quality olive oil and balsamic vinegar to make a fantastic salad dressing.

Now this is special. Insane flavour. Used it in a risotto today for a rare day off. Subtle and powering in flavour if that makes sense.
