This August Todelli® collaborates with FUTURE WOMAN!
Our founder Hara Mihailidou had a chance to speak to Sophie Elletson a leading nutritionist at FUTURE WOMAN on how to boost your hormone health Naturally
Hormones play a large part in many of our daily functions as well as critical life milestones. They affect everything from blood sugar to blood pressure, growth and fertility, metabolism, and even sleep. Their influence goes as far as changing the way we think and act day to day.
Sophie is passionate about re-educating women around how to truly nourish themselves to feel their best. She shares her top picks from Todelli.com for optimum hormone health.
Chocolate Latte with Raw Cacao

We love swapping our morning coffee for a raw chocolate latte, as it gives us a boost without the negative side effects.
In many women, caffeine can affect sleep, blood sugar balance and affect liver detoxification — all of which can disrupt hormone balance.
The caffeine levels in coffee can also spike our adrenaline and cortisol levels, which can leave us feeling jittery and anxious and tired later in the day. Over the long term, we see that disrupted cortisol levels often lead to issues like irregular periods, low energy and mood changes as our bodies prioritise survival over reproduction. This is a common picture we help clients with at FUTURE WOMAN.
While cacao does contain some caffeine, the levels are lower than coffee. Raw cacao is also rich in antioxidants, as well as nutrients such as magnesium, calcium, zinc, copper and selenium.
Turmeric Curry / Sauerkraut

A delicious addition to meals that provides a host of health benefits — a win win!
Fermented foods such as sauerkraut are amazing for gut health, which is most commonly attributed to their probiotic content. And seeing as good gut health is the foundation of hormone health, we love incorporating sauerkraut into our diet.
One of its benefits is it can promote bowel regularity and digestion — which is so important for hormone health, as we remove used hormones such as oestrogen through our poop. Low microbial diversity has also been linked to hormone conditions such as polycystic ovarian syndrome and endometriosis so increasing fermented foods helps to give our microbes a boost.
This sauerkraut is supercharged with turmeric and ginger, which are both well known for their incredible anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.
JUX Food — Broccoli Powder

At FUTURE WOMAN, we’re always waxing lyrical about the health benefits of cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli! They are especially important when it comes to oestrogen detoxification, because they can gently shuttle oestrogen down the more helpful 2OH pathway in phase 1, helping to reduce symptoms like PMS and heavy and painful periods.
This is one of the reasons we find it so helpful to test with our Advanced Hormone Test, because poor oestrogen detoxification is often the root cause of so many hormone issues.
We love to add this broccoli powder to our morning smoothies, and it rehydrates when cooked with liquid, so it can be a great boost to soups and stews too.
Sea Dust

Seaweed is a great source of vitamins and minerals; in fact, it’s one of the best sources of iodine, an often overlooked nutrient in our diet. Iodine is essential for hormone health; for example, it’s important for both ovulation and thyroid hormone production.
Interestingly, after pregnancy, our iodine requirements are higher than any other time because of hormonal shifts!
We love this sea dust sprinkled on salads and soups to boost the nutrient content.
Wild Raspberry Rosé — Non-alcoholic Fermented Sparkling Wine

We’re always looking for ways to cut down on our alcohol intake, because alcohol appears to have a largely negative effect on many aspects of women’s health.
For example, it impairs sleep, particularly REM sleep, which leads to poor mood, low energy and weight gain; it affects the brain and cognition, which leads to brain fog and difficulty concentrating; and it slows oestrogen metabolism, which can cause or exacerbate hormone imbalance and symptoms such as PMS, heavy and painful periods.
Cutting alcohol is especially important for our clients in perimenopause and menopause. We’ve observed that often this change alone is sufficient in reducing nearly all symptoms!
This non-alcoholic fermented wine is perfect for summer celebrations but without the hormone-disrupting effects.
Grain free Granola

Balancing blood sugar is one of our top principles for hormone health at FUTURE WOMAN.
Keeping our blood sugar balanced has many benefits — from sustained energy and mood in the short term to avoiding conditions like diabetes in the long term.
One of the best ways to keep blood sugar balanced throughout the day is to eat a low-carb savoury breakfast that’s high in protein and good fats.
This no-grain granola is full of nuts and seeds, meaning that it not only contains a whole host of nutrients but its low-carb/high-protein/high-fat profile means it’s a great way to start the day.
We love serving this granola with coconut yoghurt, berries and nut butter.
