This recipe couldn’t be easier! Create your mouth watering Birria in just a few simple steps.
SERVES 2 (To make for 4 people use 2 bombs and double the ingredients)
Ingredients
FOR THE BIRRIA STEW:
- 1 Birria Bomb
- 350ml water (250ml if using slow cooker)
- 400g beef brisket
FOR THE TACOS:
- Corn Tortilla (preferable, but works with any tortilla you can find)
- Mozzarella
- Coriander (to garnish)
Method
TO MAKE THE BIRRIA:
1. Add the beef and water to a pan or your slow cooker. Bring to a simmer.
2. Bombs away!
(Pop the Bomb into your pot)
3. Leave on a low heat and stir occasionally for 15mins until the flavour bomb has dissolved.
4. Cover the pot with a lid and simmer on a low heat for 3 hours, stir occasionally. Add more water if needed, it should never run out.
5. Remove the meat from the sauce and shred. It will just fall apart. Check on the delicious sauce/consomme, if you would like it thicker, simmer for longer on a low/medium heat.
6. Serve the remaining delicious sauce in bowls to dip the tacos in.
PAIR WITH:
Tacos
Heat a frying pan and dip a corn tortilla into the broth and place it onto the hot pan. Sprinkle a layer of shredded meat and then a layer of grated cheese. Close the taco and cook gently to melt the cheese and crisp up the shell. Repeat for all the tacos and enjoy dipped in the gorgeous broth. Garnish with Coriander if you wish.
Ramen
No Tacos? No problem! The sauce is delicious with noodles. Boil your noodles, once cooked, drain the water and pop them into a bowl, ladle the Birria sauce and beef onto the noodles and enjoy! Sprinkle a little diced onion and coriander if you are feeling extra fancy.
It’s versatile!
